We are witnesses of many misused,abandoned animals in city Skopje thought this is not the only problem in this area but the fact is that if we don't exist there will be much more pain and suffering for the street animals.The Animal shelter is formed to serve the public in the protection and wellbeing of the homeless animals.Our development is a witness of our big role that we play in our community.Though the imbalance is very big between the warm homes and too many homeless animals waiting to be adopted.Our shelter is always maximum filled up with street animals.Our program consists: castration/sterilization,taking the homeless cats and dogs from the streets,give them veterinary care,help in saving wounded street animals,offer help to people that have found wounded animals.Also we are doing research on neglected and abused  animals and we are making effort to improve Laws regarding the  Protection of Animals.

History:
The Animal shelter for small street animals was based in August.2003 as a result of a collaboration between the Association for Protection of animals Verrien Hunde Asyl in Zurich,Switzerland and Hunde
Asyl,Skopje.One project was made called Shelter for small abandoned homeless street animals which was sponsored by Verrien Hunde Asyl and other private sponsors.

What we do:
During their stay we try to give the animals a lot of love and individual attention.Our shelter has operation room used for castration,first help to injured animals,special space for puppies,isolated cages for newcomers and individual cages for adult dogs.All dogs are being walked at least two timer a day.We clean all the cages once a day or more if necessary.Every animal is being checked by our vets after arrival in the shelter.Once the dog/cat is abandoned by their owner they are allowed to stay in the shelter until we found them a new home. A good example is our beautiful female dog Sonja who
doesn't trust unknown people cause she was misused badly,so she lives in our shelter already for a year and she became one of the favorite dogs between our volunteers.Unfortunately we don't have always space to accept every animal which was abandoned and needs help.Thanks to your donations we can provide thousands castrations,help and care for the street animals and all what is necessary for their survival.The purpose of our project is to castrate/sterilize all street animals,vaccinate them and clean them from parasites.

What we don't do:
We are often asked if we put animals to sleep.The answer is:only if the animal is incurable sick or has contagious sickness and he/she is a threat to other animals and people,or if the animal is aggressive.Our shelter does not accept aggressive animals cause they are dangerous for other pets and people therefore they will never be adopted.

Financial support:
We are not supported by our Government.Our only financial support is by the Association Verrien Hunde Asyl from Zurich,Switzerland and other private and legitimate persons.This is enough only for the part of our needs.
